This Creamy Coconut Matcha Latte perfectly sums up delicious, nurturing and down right ‘good-for-the-body-nutrition’ all in one digestive hug in a mug.
Finally I am beginning to feel reinvigorated and I am getting back to my usual energy level.
I have been craving a nurturing, creamy beverage; a hug in a mug to build up my strength and fuel me up to 110% but I do not like to lean on coffee for energy as it instantly keeps me up at night and messes with my blood-sugar levels giving me epic jitters between meals. I also do not want to drink dairy as its mucus forming properties can be congesting to the sinuses, throat and chest; the very symptoms of last weeks cold that I am trying to avoid!
Matcha green tea is a powdered form of green tea leaves. When you brew regular green tea you are drinking the water that the leaves have been steeped in….with matcha you are ingesting the whole leaf.
This includes the fibre and chlorophyll from in the leaf, all of the minerals including selenium to support the thyroid gland, chromium which supports blood sugar balance, immunity boosting zinc and the relaxation mineral magnesium.
Matcha is also packed with anti-oxidants which provide anti-cancerous properties and support metabolic and cardiovascular health.
Unlike coffee matcha gives you a more relaxed boost in energy and concentration as it is rich in the alpha-wave promoting amino acid, L-theanine.
Matcha has also been shown in clinical trail to boost metabolic rate and help you to burn calories through thermogenesis.
I like to pair matcha with a big dose of healthy fat and make this latte with both coconut milk and a tablespoon of coconut oil. Coconut oil is also accredited with boosting metabolism, supporting the brain and balancing blood sugar. This latte is naturally sweetened with chromium rich maple syrup.
Rich and delicious, energy boosting and restorative, this Creamy Coconut Matcha Latte is my go to winter drink.
