Green Basil Smoothie

Do you make smoothie packs or plan ahead to get the good stuff into your diet in green smoothie?
I find that I am much more likely to drink this amazing green nutrition if I have chopped the fruit and vegetables, made the smoothie and basically done all the heavy lifting before I need to grab the smoothie and go. This is my go to nutrition when I am flagging or rushed off my feet.

Try packing this deconstructed smoothie into containers and freezing ready for next week.

I quadrupled the recipe below, put four smoothies in mason jars in my refrigerator and put two containers prepped smoothie packs in my freezer. This is a great way to use up leftover fruit and veg at the end of the week. I had a very ripe mango (see the little brown spot!) and a big bunch of kale I had not got round to putting in a salad or preparing for dinner.

This recipe takes advantage of the new season bunches of basil that appearing in the farmers market and store. It contains hemp hearts for protein and avocado for a healthy fat…..protein and healthy fat…..the perfect snack combo to keep blood sugar levels balanced and the metabolism revved up.
Green Basil Smoothie
1/2 banana
1/2 Medium English Cucumber
1/2 Avocado
1/2 Ripe Mango
1 Cup Chopped Kale
1 Large Sprig Basil
2 tbsp Hemp Seeds
1″ Ginger
Chop all the vegetables, fruit and ginger and pack into a container. Sprinkle over 2 tbs Hemp Seeds put on lid and freeze.
When you are ready for your smoothie, pull out pack and break up frozen ingredients. Put in blender with 1 cup of water and blend on high until smooth.
This is not a ‘sweet’ smoothie so add 1 tsp raw honey if required.

Perfect nutrition as a post workout smoothie!
