So, my year got off to a wonderful start when I was unexpectedly given the opportunity to travel to the U.K. to visit my family.
Part of this trip included three days on London with my 17 year old son….a mixed blessing if ever there was one , but we did enjoy a morning at one of my favourite food destinations ever…Borough Market
Borough Market contains such a beautiful array of food with fish sourced by the fishing port it was landed at and animals attributed to the farms where they were raised and the humane conditions they enjoyed. A real farm to fork environment.
I thought you might enjoy some of the photos I took there.
There was an abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables!
A spectacular variety of fungi, many wild foraged in France and Italy.
Look at the beautiful cheeses! Cheese is displayed without refrigeration as it is allowed to mature naturally. Raw cheeses are also freely advertised as people often find them easier to digest. I sometimes wonder how we forgot that cheese is a natural preservation method for dairy products that has been refined over thousands of years.
Gorgeous fresh fish is labelled by the port it is landed and looked so glorious and fresh. My son quite wanted to purchased a turbot it looked so beautiful.
We also enjoyed all the food options available! My son managed to indulge in a roast pork and apple sauce sandwich despite having just eaten breakfast.
……And a quick pic of my travelling companion and the beautiful sunset we enjoyed alongside the River Thames one evening.
Altogether an unexpected treat and a thoroughly enjoyable trip!
